Today I share what is in my opinion the most underrated, affordable, and ultimate all-around beater watch. We’ll take a look at why I have fallen in love with this timepiece, its unique history, and why it’s so much more than just a watch made famous by Tom Cruise in the 1996 movie Mission: Impossible. If you’re looking for a watch that is almost as tough as a G-Shock, but costs under $40, from a horologically important brand that has made history with a unique design, then your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join me today to find out why this is it! Today we return to a format from the earliest days of the channel and answer some frequently asked questions on collecting watches. Is collecting "affordable" watches a mistake? Would it be better to sell an entire collection of affordable watches in exchange for just one grail watch? In this video I aim to help Daniel, a member of the good Gentry, who emailed me for advice. After collecting watches for 2 years his current daily favorite is the Glycine Combat Sub GL0185. He wants to sell his large collection to buy his dream watch - a Rolex Submariner, reference 16610 - which is approximately the same value. What should he do? Join me for some classic Gentry watch collection talk, including advice for Daniel, and a few things one should take into account when contemplating such a big decision, from financial considerations to seller’s remorse. To get $100 off $1000+ and then $250 off $2500+ on your next luxury watch, use the code "URBANGENTRY" at: https://www.thewatchbox.com Check out The Urban Gentry Amazon page here for items featured in my videos. In today's video I start the new year off with a brief tour of the city of my birth. London is an overwhelmingly big city to the uninitiated and with an almost intimidating amount of things to see and visit, where do you start? As I was traveling over the festive season to see family in the UK, I thought I might as well drop by the capital to see friends and share some of my favorite attractions. I have been enjoying many of these since childhood, but as London inevitably evolves with time (the measurement of which was pioneered at Greenwich!) there is a whole new addition of new things to experience and enjoy. No matter if you are on a budget or wish to splash out on some classy old world luxury, London has it all. I start my day with something of a family tradition with a hearty brunch at the iconic Savoy Hotel. To help digest the meal, I take a walk to Somerset House, followed by a stop at the Southbank, which is one of Europe's largest centers for the arts. On the way I share some favorite horological treats and end up at the legendary Fortnum & Mason to stock up on essentials. I then continue shopping with a look at the luxury goods on offer at the world renowned Jermyn Street, which is known for its exclusive gentlemen's clothing. I then take a break to reflect inside one of the city’s many hidden gems of architecture. St. James Church on Piccadilly was designed by the acclaimed Christopher Wren, and at the time of this trip, the church had a very moving modern art installation on display. After a quick stop at the always trendy Covent Garden, we pop back over the river to the amazing Tate Modern to take in a few art exhibits. We then decide to end the day with quite literally a high with dinner overlooking the city at the fashionable and luxurious Aqua Shard in the majestic Shard building. In conclusion, I also run through a list of essential attractions, options for perfect days out and trusted London favorites I highly recommend. Today I’m reunited with a new for 2021 release of the most iconic chronograph of all time—the Omega Speedmaster Moon watch. In this video we’ll compare the 2021 version to previous generations, discuss what's been updated, its illustrious history, and what I love and loathe about it. Join me for another independent and unsponsored review told from the perspective of a watch enthusiast, for watch enthusiasts. So, why did I sell all my Speedies? What caused my obsession with them to end? Will this latest release win me back? Or has Omega further undervalued it with yet another version to cash in on its Nasa Apollo 11 fame? Love them or hate them, one cannot deny it's a fascinating story, so settle in and prepare to take off into the world of the Speedmaster!
