DTube is a free video sharing platform where anyone can upload, watch and share videos. We use peer-to-peer (P2P) technology to deliver videos efficiently, which helps us keep the platform free and sustainable.

No. You can watch any public video on DTube without signing up. An account is only required to upload videos, comment, like, subscribe to channels or save watch history.

Yes. Watching and uploading videos on DTube is completely free.

P2P (peer-to-peer) streaming lets viewers of the same video share parts of it directly with each other while they watch. This reduces our server costs and makes streaming more resilient. The video is delivered the same way as on any other site — you don't need to install anything.

When P2P is active, your browser may share small pieces of the video you're currently watching with other viewers. This usually represents a tiny fraction of your connection. Sharing only happens while a video is playing, and stops as soon as you close the tab.

P2P streaming requires a direct connection between viewers. Mobile networks (3G/4G/5G) and some satellite providers like Starlink use CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT), which prevents these direct connections. On these networks, videos stream from our servers as usual — P2P simply can't contribute. This doesn't affect playback quality.

Try refreshing the page first. If the issue persists, check your internet connection, try a different browser, or lower the video quality from the player's settings menu.

Yes. Click Share below any video and copy the embed code. DTube also supports oEmbed, so videos will preview natively when you paste a link on most social media platforms.

We accept most common video formats including MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI. We recommend MP4 with H.264 video for the fastest upload and processing.

After uploading, every video is transcoded into multiple resolutions (360p, 720p, 1080p) and prepared for adaptive streaming. Processing time depends on the length and resolution of your video — longer or higher-resolution videos take longer.

DTube automatically extracts 9 snapshots from different points in your video. Open the video on your channel, click edit, and pick the snapshot you'd like to use as the thumbnail. Custom thumbnail uploads aren't supported at the moment.

Open the video on your channel and use the delete option in the video menu. Deleting a video is permanent and cannot be undone.

Yes. Open your channel, find the video and use the edit option to update its title, description, or thumbnail at any time.

Go to your Settings page. From there you can update your channel name, avatar, banner and description.

On the login page, choose 'Forgot password'. We'll email you a reset link.

Not at the moment. If you need to change the email associated with your account, contact us at [email protected] and we'll help you out.

You can delete your account from the Settings page. This permanently removes your channel, videos, comments and account data and cannot be undone.

Not yet. DTube is currently ad-free. We plan to introduce advertising in the future to keep the platform sustainable, and we'll share details when we get closer to launch.

Not yet. We are working on a creator monetization program that will launch alongside advertising. Once it's live, eligible creators will be able to earn a share of the ad revenue generated by their videos.

Click the Report button below any video to flag it for review. Our moderation team reviews reports and may remove content that violates our Community Guidelines.
