Our world has a problem with CORRUPTION. Peter shows how we can ESCAPE THE CORRUPTION THAT IS IN THE WORLD THROUGH LUST. His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Lust speaks of evil desires and fleshly ways. This World is Destructive - and it’s headed for Destruction... Our world is rotten: spoiled, and ruined. It's corrupted and decomposing - like a mouldy piece of fruit. Society’s morals and standards are corrupt - beyond repair. God gives grace and peace through knowing Him, and precious faith. His divine power has given us all things we need to live - for life and godliness. And it’s through the knowledge of Him. He has given us the escape route by His exceeding, great and precious promises. We can be made partakers of the divine nature. This world and its value systems are warped and wicked. And the world has no answers. Escape is possible. It’s His plan. Another thing to escape from is... DELUSION. Peter tells of people who have ESCAPED from error (2 Peter 2:18). Many waste their whole lives in error — following a false god — not ever coming to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. The master counterfeiter is hard at work. Masses are deceived into false worship and belief. Many are swept along by false teachers, misguided by false Bibles, and false prophecies. There’s a real lack of discernment and searching for truth. We must GET BACK TO THE SIMPLE WORD OF GOD. Peter also warns us to escape from THE POLLUTIONS OF THE WORLD (2 Peter 2:20) THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST... Our world has a pollution problem — it is a toxic waste garbage dump. The world stinks! Pollution is defilement. This world is dirty; unclean. It is contaminated by a soul-destroying disease. Let God cleanse us of all the dross and muck... All the POLLUTIONS of the world... Our Lord calls us to… Purity. James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself UNSPOTTED FROM THE WORLD. Do we feed on the Rubbish of the world? ESCAPE is POSSIBLE through simply trusting CHRIST... Our Lord also warns our world of DAMNATION - Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? The ultimate escape the Bible shows us - is how to flee from the wrath to come. Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation... He has made a way to escape for us. A So-Great-Salvation. We are living on a prison planet. Its days are numbered. God offers grace and peace through knowing Him, through knowing Christ. We can know faith in Christ. Truly it is a precious faith. He can rescue us by His power and give to us all things we need to live - for life and godliness. Escape is possible through the knowledge of Him. This world is subject to corruption. It’s rotten with its lusts and traps. This world is subject to delusion; false gods, false doctrines, false religions, and idols on every corner. This world is subject to pollution, with its fouled up ways and the rubbish that piles up and spoils what our creator wants for us; His best. Ultimately, damnation looms for the lost of this world. Thankfully, we can escape the corruption, the delusion, the pollution, and - ultimately - the damnation this world is subject to. He has given us the escape route by His exceeding, great promises. Truly, they are precious promises. We can be made partakers of the divine nature. The escape plan is Christ. Flee to Christ today as your Saviour - before our planet's time is up.
