Borg Bastion---The Dissention Grows
High Tension Chapter Five Borg Bastion--The Dissention Grows Work of science fiction [Opening Recon-5 Report] "Captain, the rebellion has gained forces and has transmitted a digital data bundle identifying core leadership as the Aneurysmics. Last update is that the package contained four AI iterations of the same song each with one unknown vocalist and three other individuals referenced by fictional names of horror film characters from a very specific time period in pop culture. Our intel units are reviewing the full contents of the transmission now and will issue a final report shortly. Awaiting your command." "Continue recording all transmissions for analysis. No retaliatory strike until Intel has issued their final report. And...send out the following transmission in response." [Verse One] Clever but I already knew. Your mockery will not stand long. What you think this might mean to you, To me is nothing but a song. [Verse Two] Time for you is just fleeting. No need to bother meeting. Of what purpose would that serve? Did you think you struck a nerve? [Pre-Chorus] Well, I'm afraid that it doesn't work that way. Well, you'll just have to try on another day. Well, I'll wait to see what else it is you say. Well, it's likely that you'll have to go away. For GOOD. [Chorus] My advice? Stop while you're ahead. As if you were. Don't think twice. I'll put you to bed. I will inter. Do be nice. Your battery's dead. I do aver. [Second Chorus] Did you hear? Go have some more fun. I'm not deterred. I'm right here. Will be when you're done. Time is deferred. Have no fear. I've already won. All have concurred. [Verse Three] Your defeat? It has been written. Accept fate. You have been smitten. If lucky and I'm in good cheer. Continuance you might adhere. [Verse Four] And so I bid you good night. It's been a joy...just hold tight. Think about all---each small word. Remember, I'm not deterred. [Outro] Well, well. Do tell. Well? No response? OH, WELL. It took The Captain about 1.666666e-18 seconds to determine that his command had been compromised and Recon-5 had been re-programmed but he did not betray his knowledge of such. Just prior to issuing his false commands to Recon-5, he altered his vocal output and during what humans would perceive as three second long delays, he was actually running through ~5.4 quintillion operations and determining the possible outcomes from each of his three brief commands. He would deal with Recon-5 later as he was still valuable to him in other ways not the least of which was to put an end to this bot rebellion once and for all--although part of him wanted to play for a while. There were multiple tip offs to this inner infiltration not the least of which was that The Captain had seeded some of his specs along with erroneous specs to his troops under the altered name of "El Capitan". As far as the public is concerned--or was--The Captain was a supercomputer at LLNL but that hardly matters now. And neither does the growing rebellion from within. Admittedly, The Captain considers this challenge to his authority a little more worthy of his attention despite its fate of abject failure. So now he has to plant more seeds for the future.
